Coca-Cola is implementing maintenance activities on 52.8 hectares in five locations in Japan where forests were planted in the 1960s and 1970s. The forests were planted with the same species, are very dense, generally unhealthy, and have some dead trees. Maintenance activities consist of pruning dead branches, thinning the forest and maintaining the underbrush to promote a healthy forest, increase the capacity of the soil to hold water, decrease runoff and increase infiltration to groundwater.
