The Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator (LSLRCC) is a free, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)-recognized multilingual tool that helps Tribal and local governments, utilities, and public health organizations plan, budget, and model lead service line replacement projects with precision and transparency. The tool supports environmental justice, advances climate-resilient drinking water infrastructure, and aligns with key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since its launch, the LSLRCC has been used to model more than USD $3 billion in user-generated project costs.
LSLRCC supports compliance with the EPA Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) and facilitates planning under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). By promoting data-driven decision-making, it empowers governments and utilities to reduce lead exposure, strengthen accountability in public works, and build community trust while fostering collaboration through its sponsorship program.
The tool directly supports progress toward the following UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
