The Lolo National Forest has been heavily impacted by wildfires in recent years - namely the 2024 Miller Peak Fire, 2021 Thorne Creek Fire, and 2017 Lolo Peak, Morrell, and Sheep Gap Fires. Some areas have not regenerated in up to 8 years since disturbances, and are in dire need of reforestation efforts. This project is planned to span three years as a landscape level integrated restoration project across the Missoula and Seeley Lake ranger districts. Through replanting efforts, the key objectives are to restore vegetation conditions that are more fire, insect, disease, and drought-resilient.
